Part Time Senior Platform Engineer

Understanding that the traditional 40-hour work week might not work for everyone, Capital One's Technology organization is rethinking how Corporate America gets work done. This position is part of an innovative pilot aimed at creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.

As Capital One continues to evolve as an organization, the need for associates to speak IT and Business language is increasingly important. The EDML team is looking for an individual who is looking for a challenge bringing Access Management, third party application support and IT operations skills to bear to support the delivery of third party hosted solutions for our internal business customers. This associate along with team members will work with IT delivery teams, Third Parties, and business tech support teams, to help shape and shepherd onboarding of new applications as well as manage them going forward.

Job Duties:

As a part-time team member you shall be responsible for meeting the below requirements:
  • As a part-time platform engineer you shall be able to define a set number of hours per your desire. The maximum number being 32 hours per week and the minimum being 20 hours per week. The 20-hour minimum is set to allow for enough time to support all overhead such as team meetings, performance management and mandatory training. Salary will be adjusted accordingly to any hours less than a scheduled 32 hours per week.
  • On occasion, your job may require you to support an off hours implementation rollout and/or issues resolution or travel for a project. These should be planned and allow for you to prepare for the situation in advance.
  • The team shall define a schedule for required meetings such as daily standups, team core hours, etc . that shall be required working hours. In addition, there shall be expected regularly scheduled organizational meetings such as PI Planning, Design session, Calibration, All hands, Team Building Activities, etc. that shall be scheduled from time to time and be required attendance.
  • The policy for location as to where you work for part-time associates shall follow the same policy for full-time associates.
  • The program is seeking participants who would like to remain in the pilot for its 12-month duration. If job roles continue post-pilot associates can remain in those roles. If pilot job roles do not continue, associates can apply for other roles available at that time, which may or may not include part-time roles.


Responsibilities:
This role requires a firm understanding of third party application onboarding/support and standard technologies used at Capital One or other similar industries.The ideal candidate will be familiar with third party tool implementations, and be responsible for:

  • Consulting on technology opportunities and integrating IT resources to fulfill project requirements.
  • Coordinating with multiple vendors, internal technical teams and customers, on integrating diverse technologies.
  • The individual will serve as a subject matter expert and business process coordinator.
  • Program goals include consolidating and stream-lining identifying different tools for usage for the business teams and finalizing the right tools.
  • The individual will have specific responsibilities to gather vendor requirements and then work with them to set up all access roles.
  • Make sure that the third party vendors understand the possible solutions that will meet these needs to automate Single Sign On.
  • Contribute to building processes, show expertise and ownership of solutions to automate manual processes.
  • Participates in the delivery of security- related technology implementation activities in accordance with legal/compliance and risk requirements.
  • Work with the leadership team to understand and document existing operational processes and capture/design technical solutions for all access and SSO integration.
  • Consult business and IT users to gather functional requirements that need covering the following topics: governance, administration, self-service, attestation, and reporting.
  • Work with the project team to evaluate all requirements and define the future-to-be solution for the manual onboarding processes, design and access self-service and approval workflow processes.
  • Perform testing activities for developed solutions to ensure solutions meet specified requirements (ex: SSO, Access Management).


Skills should include:
  • Ability to lead and direct third party suppliers to deliver solutions
  • Actively solicit, analyze, and negotiate customer requirements
  • Propensity to assimilate information and requirements from a variety of sources into one comprehensive view
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with IT, Third Parties, and business partners
  • Learn / analyze complex, interconnected business processes systems quickly
  • Ability to review technical design requirements and translate to business language
  • Assist and coordinate complex problem solving discussions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks / projects in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Leverage strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to communicate progress, risks and impacts to various levels of IT and Non-IT associates
  • Focus on reuse / scalability of a solution


Capital One will consider part-time associates for this role

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Certification
  • At least 3 years of professional experience with Agile Scrum methodologies
  • At least 1 year of experience working with Access Management solutions such as Single Sign On (SSO)
  • At least 1 year of experience working with 3 rd party vendors


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, Math or Science
  • 2+ years of experience working with Third Parties
  • 2+ years Capital One experience
  • Jira experience
