The OpportunityThe Senior Closer is responsible for closing complex loan transactions according to the Department of Housing & Urban Development's requirements and in conformance with all other HUD/FHA and Berkadias guidelines, statutes, regulatory and administrative requirements. This individual will perform a variety of loan closing/funding functions, including the review and funding of mortgage loan documents, the interaction with escrow and title companies, and the review of the insurance requirements.Reviews the rate lock documentation.Coordinates commitment, closing, and delivery phases of loans originated to ensure commitment requirements are satisfied within a specified timeframe to enable best execution.Verifies receipt and disbursement of all fees as per commitment terms or investor guidelines.Maintains tickler and status file to monitor and track appropriate documentation requirements.Reviews insurance requirements and when applicable, coordinates insurance review with third-party consultants and assists the underwriter, Mortgage Banker or Lenders counsel in resolving any insurance issues that may arise.Requests and analyzes current real estate tax information.Sets up loan funding calculations and prepares Account Documents consisting of Escrow Analysis, Property Taxes and Insurance, Reconciliation Sheet and Servicing Memorandum; Ensures accuracy of allrelated accounting entries; Resolves all closing figures with title company and Mortgage Banker.Coordinates review of closing statement/draw/cost certification by HUD and Borrower.Requests HUD payments using pay.Gov.Prepares and submits wire requests for loan funding along with applicable supporting documentation.Balances good faith reconciliation statement in accordance with corporate guidelines.Records loan and closing information in OmniView, the Companys loan system of record.Prepares the closing file for delivery to the New Loan Boarding team, warehouse provider (if applicable), and the Investor or document custodian.Tracks delivery of loan documents to custodian and follow-up on receipt of recorded documents.Works with Closing Manager-HUD and Managing Director-Closing on all process improvement activities.Manages, mentors and trains the team.Other duties as assigned.What someone will need to be successful in this roleMinimum three years prior experience working in a Commercial HUD/FHA lending position (Closing, Underwriting, Paralegal or Processor)Five years of experience in the commercial mortgage industry in an administrative or analytical positionAdvanced proficiency in computer applications using Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a larger team with a demonstrated flexible attitude.Excellent interpersonal skills must be confident and comfortable in speaking with internal and external team members.Comfortable on a high-volume and fast-paced environment.Solid math and calculation skills.Organized with a strong attention to detail.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Motivated to achieve personal and departmental goals.Adhere to Berkadias policies and exhibit proficiency and understanding of Berkadias Values and position-specific skills.Berkadia, a joint venture of Berkshire Hathaway and Jefferies Financial Group, is a leader in the commercial real estate industry, offering a robust suite of services to our multifamily and commercial property clients.
