The Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is seeking an Assistant Facility Manager for the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center. The Manager will assist the General Manager with overseeing building and staff operations, including building processes and procedures. They will also serve as the Person-In-Charge (PIC) in the General Manager's absence.

The Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center has something for everyone! A 50-Meter FINA compliant pool, a Leisure Pool with in-water volleyball & basketball, and a lazy river, along with a fitness studio, three community rooms, and two wet-classrooms for fitness classes, parties, and gatherings. Specific duties:

  • Assisting the General Manager with overseeing the operations of the facility and standard operating procedures, and ensuring the needs of users are met, including ensuring adequate staffing levels and providing performance feedback;
  • Setting up rooms for programs and events and ensuring equipment is available and operational;
  • Responding to customer inquiries, processing program registrations, reconciling cash receipts, and fee reductions when the administrative registration unit is closed;
  • Notifying the General Manager of updates to marketing and public relations media including online and onsite bulletins;
  • Ensuring contracted work (e.g., maintenance, cleaning, sanitation, pest control) is performed as scheduled and according to specification;
  • Providing access to locked areas for contractors, parks, and custodial staff including monitoring recycling and service contracts, and performing regular quality assurance inspections;
  • Using RecTrac or similar web-based scheduling, registration, and payment systems to process daily, weekly, and quarterly transactions;
  • Ensuring facility schedule is updated and accurate with all internal and external reservation requests;
  • Providing support with pool operations including oversight of lifeguard staff supervision, conducting regular chemical checks, and inspecting pool filter and pump equipment; and
  • Assisting customers and organizations with any rental inquiries and transactions.

Selection Criteria

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports, Facilities Operations, Business Management, or related field; and
  • One (1) year of experience administering recreation programs and activities in a large multi-service-based facility, center, or similar environment.
Substitution: Additional education may be substituted for experience, or additional responsible experience may be substituted for education.

Desirables Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

  • Working in a local government setting;
  • Using RecTrac or similar payment system;
  • Proficient using the Microsoft Office suite; and
  • Working in a public or private aquatic facility.
Possession of one or more of the following Certifications/Licenses preferred :

  • Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP);
  • Facility Management Professional (FMP) certification;
  • Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO); and
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO).

Special Requirements
