Duties
If an individual is deemed incapacitated from the diagnosis of intellectual disability, the preferred examiner will be a qualified intellectual disability professional who can present a complete social, psychological and medical evaluation of the individual to the court.
The court will decide what services are required and the appropriate Examiner will be contacted.

Submit detailed resume, highlighting relevant training and experience, and submit a copy of all professional licenses to the Honorable Erik P. Christian, Presiding Judge of the Probate Division, via email at JudgeE.ChristianChambers@dcsc.gov and add in the subject line: Examiner Application.
Qualified individuals include:
The latter category may include: psychologist; physician; educator; clinical social worker; certified rehabilitation counselor; physical or occupational therapist; or therapeutic recreation specialist, each of whom must have specialized training in intellectual disability or at least one year of experience in treating individuals diagnosed with intellectual disability.
Qualifications
Professionals must be licensed in the District of Columbia.
Education
Training or experience in the diagnosis, care or treatment of the causes of or conditions leading to incapacity to manage financial resources or to meet essential requirements for physical health, safety, habilitation or therapeutic needs.
Additional information
Any person appointed to this position must petition the court for compensation for services rendered in accordance with Superior Court Rule - Probate Division 308 (3). Compensation will be paid from the estate of the ward or, if not available, from a fund established by the District of Columbia.
