Job Summary
The Director Supplier Warranty and Core Management directs the transformation, development, implementation, and oversight of a comprehensive enterprise supplier warranty, and core management program. Additionally, the incumbent will lead the development of the overhaul vs. buy recommendations for all WMATA's internally manufactured assets. The incumbent collaborates with department heads and their management teams to establish and extend supplier warranties, maximize the usefulness of internally manufactured assets, and facilitate the development of core parts programs to maximize use and recovery of WMATA's financial investments.

- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Finance, or Related Field
- In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a high school diploma/GED and four (4) years of experience administering and monitoring warranty systems/programs, in addition to the experience stated below, will be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of nine (9) years of in the review, administration and monitoring of warranty systems to include experience in successfully developing, implementing and managing equipment warranty programs, preferable in a transportation industry.
- Experience must include a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory management

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Directs, coordinates, and monitors all WMATA warranty programs, internal repairable assets, and management of cores, including the development of standard operating procedures, enforcement of contract compliance, and implementation of programs to ensure the cost recovery occurs across all functions.
- Directs oversight of implementation and maintenance quality of a supplier warranty program to ensure warranty agreements and claims, either expressed or implied by Metro prime contractors and suppliers, conform to Metro's established or contractual requirements. Ensures the proper utilization of all warranty provisions associated with the acceptance and operation of new equipment and facilities. Reviews warranty procedures and provides recommendations for revision.
- Directs maintenance units on the proper interpretation and application of warranty clauses, ensuring traceable, auditable, and measurable transactions occur to determine investment recovery.
- Reviews maintenance repair records and warranty claims; warranty and reliability documentation that accompanies WMATA purchases; and warranty provisions stipulated in requests for proposals to verify that the guidelines of WMATA will be met. Ensures traceable, auditable, and measurable transactions occur to determine that warranty issues are addressed in a timely and detailed manner.
- Develops and implements a core management program to handle the exchange of cores, internally or externally to WMATA, based on provisions of procurement to ensure WMATA's procurements occur at the lowest cost possible, while meeting operational readiness.
- Manages, supervises and evaluates assigned personnel, to include applicant selection, disciplinary actions, resolution of grievances, assigning duties, directing and reviewing work, and ensuring appropriate staff training is provided.
- Advises and assists on relevant and applicable warranty and core terms and conditions for new material and Capital funded assets. Ensures maximum value realization during the material or asset lifecycle.
