Job Description

The Washington Post is seeking a Digital Marketing Specialist to join our subscriptions marketing team. The specialist will be expected to analyze social engagements, nurture leads, and drive downstream subscription growth. The ideal candidate has a deep working knowledge of digital marketing and campaign management; is a citizen of social media and can explain the landscape; and has a deep understanding of current news and its key players. Our team is looking for people who are excited to think about news content differently.

This is a hybrid role requiring core competencies in media strategy, campaign management and marketing analytics, all rooted in subscriptions acquisition. To be successful, the position requires attention to detail, an eye for news readers' behaviors, and knowing which platforms to activate on in order to deliver authentic and engaging news experiences. The role reports into the Head of Paid Growth.

  • Deliver omnichannel engagement campaigns for The Washington Post to drive reader habit and increase subscription growth.
  • Oversee the day-to-day campaign management including performance optimization, budget management, and audience development.
  • Provide weekly and monthly updates to internal stakeholders regarding performance, metrics and opportunities.
  • Use data insights to develop and improve our go-to-market acquisition strategy.
  • Work with newsroom teams to support organic content discovery on social media.
  • Identify and propose ways to improve performance of targeted audience groups.
  • Monitor new and emerging trends in social media, and helping to educate The Washington Post on these trends.

  • 2-4 years experience working in social and digital marketing or advertising
  • Experience with campaign management, reporting and analysis
  • Possess a working knowledge of Google Analytics or other measurement partners
  • Must love creating and producing spreadsheets and pivot tables
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and efficiently manage their own time as part of virtual teams
  • A passion for and understanding of news, The Washington Post brand, and our readers
  • Be organized and proactive

Preferred Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, journalism or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated success with building audience through social networks
  • Experience working with various social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, TikTok and Google
