Dewberry has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Resilience Solutions Client Management Branch Manager in our expanding coastal resilience practice in Fairfax, VA.

Dewberry's Resilience Solutions group applies engineering, GIS, data analytics, and planning disciplines to help our clients understand their natural hazard risks and to make informed decisions to reduce risk and increase resilience. The Resilience Solutions Client Management Branch Manager will develop, implement and lead the execution of business development and marketing plans and supervises the Resilience Solutions Client Managers. This position plays a largely external, business development role to identify opportunities in the marketplace and partners needed to be successful in capturing new work (growth). Coaches the Client Managers and ensures that the Client Managers are afforded professional development opportunities to enhance their effectiveness as Client Managers. Mentors staff interested in client management and identifies staffing needs. Works closely with the Technical Practice and Program Management Branch Managers to ensure that the teams are building for future clients' needs.

The successful candidate will have a diverse background with evidence of strong advancement in management responsibilities and clearly demonstrated expertise and success in developing and executing successful sales and business development strategies. Responsibilities include:
  • Leading the development and successful execution of the Resilience Solutions Marketing Plan to achieve annual sales goals and long-term growth objectives.
  • Providing day-to-day management and leading, coaching and mentoring Resilience Solutions Client Managers.
  • Fostering and facilitating collaborative pursuits across the Dewberry Enterprise (e.g., Operating Units, Market Segments)
  • Working closely with the Technical Practice and Project Management Branch Managers to ensure that the project management and technical teams are building for future clients' needs (capacity and capabilities).
  • Identifying, nurturing and fostering a client-focused culture across Resilience Solutions, including developing organically, or recruiting and assimilating, new Client Managers necessary to support long-term growth.
  • Developing the annual marketing and conference budget as part of the Resilience Solutions annual budgeting process and monitoring and managing performance against it.
  • Making go/no go decisions on identified opportunities (in consultation with the Business Unit Manager).
  • Working with client, program, and project managers to bring market facing ideas and strategies and new service delivery methodologies to clients.
  • Ensuring all Client Management activities conform to and integrate with Dewberry's requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal compliance, and general policies and procedures.
  • Proactively engaging with the Dewberry Enterprise Strategic Plan and related Enterprise initiatives.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in A/E consulting with a minimum of 10 years in program, project, or staff management. Experience supporting FEMA Insurance and Mitigation Programs a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated strong record of sales and business development with federal, state and local clients in resilience, water resources, hazard mitigation or related fields.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Geography, Planning, or similar discipline. Advanced degree or an MBA a plus.
  • Registration/certification appropriate for professional discipline preferred (e.g., PMP, CFM, PE, GISP, etc.)
