Overview

AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

The Account Development Manager is responsible for the oversight of existing provider relationship programs and associated contracts. As the manager, you will work to identify improvements, measure outcomes, and develop, execute, and implement new engagement programs/ relationships that align with the organization's goals and objectives. This position acts as the main point of contact for all activities to ensure the ongoing health of the products/program relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all provider/partner activities including those within AARP Services and AARP. Manages the day-to-day provider relationship and activities to ensure the success of the product/program. Ensures program growth including revenue, member value, and product enhancement opportunities through annual account plan development
  • Manages the ongoing quality control of programs and assures compliance with all contract terms including review process of the program and provider/partner, oversight of marketing plans, product operational plans, and product enhancement.
  • Manages or participates in provider contract renegotiations in the portfolio for the products/programs offered to AARP members.
  • Influences matrix to optimize program functions, including strategic account planning and growth.
  • Works with the provider to develop a continuous improvement process for all program and product categories. Collaborates with the Director to set strategic direction for the program and program development.
  • Cultivates a deep understanding of industry knowledge. Completes periodic competitive assessments of programs or products to monitor relative value within the marketplace; identifies the features and competitive advantages versus the competition.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a business-related field.
  • 5+ years of program/product management experience; or an equivalent combination of related training and experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation, and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, critical thinking and proficiency in applying quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Ability to build productive business relationships working with both internal and external parnters including working and effectvively leading cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed (approximately 20%).
  • Independent judgement and discretion.
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions.
Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
