Appian's information security team is growing and is seeking a Junior Public Sector Security Analyst. As a Security Analyst you will be responsible for addressing security and compliance requirements, through the drafting and reviewing of compliance documentation, and by working with internal teams to ensure all services are in alignment with associated compliance frameworks. The role will be heavily focused on evaluating technology controls internally against public sector frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, DISA IL, FISMA, NIST) and regularly update teams and documentation to address regulatory and compliance risks.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • To have exposure to or experience with governance, risk and compliance activities
  • To draft, revise, and review compliance documentation of existing compliance frameworks in support of audit functions and compliance programs.
  • To assess potential regulatory changes for impact on Security compliance objectives and the ability to keep up to date on changing Public Sector Framework and Compliance requirements.
  • To translate regulatory requirements to internal business partners and aid in keeping alignment on compliance requirements.
  • To effectively communicate engineering guidelines based on regulatory requirements and document results from engineering teams.
  • To assist with the education and training of process/control owners so they better understand the technology controls framework and their responsibilities.
  • To build strong relationships with business partners at Appian (Information Security/Security GRC, Internal IT, Legal, Engineering, and Products team) and facilitate continuous improvement aligned with operational processes.
  • To have the ability to produce and/or edit technical drawings using Draw.IO/Visio or similar design tools.
  • To have familiarity with DoD Impact Level (IL) standards.
  • To have experience writing proposals and understanding basic contract language.
  • To demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills as well as strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • To have the ability to work independently or as a member of a team on various tasks.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field of study with IT/security controls experience or Master's degree
  • Knowledge of NIST RMF, NIST SP 800 Series, FedRAMP and FISMA
  • Familiarity with cloud data security compliance and working with public cloud solutions (AWS, Google, and Azure)
