Job Announcement

Leads, plans, coordinates, supervises and manages a designated group of shops in the Facilities Management Operations and Maintenance Division. Controls the activities of a number of zones that performs analysis and forecasts, works to streamline processes to meet evolving needs for the agency and its customers. Oversees the overall productivity and efficiency, including implementing operational strategies, evaluating Operations and Maintenance performances, and managing the performance of chief building engineers. This position is responsible for creating high functioning teams able to meet the current and future staffing needs of the agency. Responsible for project coordination, budget tracking, equipment maintenance, and assessing contract needs. This position is responsible for high-level analytical thinking and problem solving. Seeks opportunities to ensure staff are receiving the training needed to improve processes through automation, task assignment, procurement, and travel time. Responsible for client relationships and satisfaction..

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Considerable knowledge of appropriate maintenance principles, practices, materials, and equipment;
Knowledge of necessary safety precautions;
Ability to plan and direct the program of the section to which assigned;
Ability to supervise a large number of subordinate personnel;
Ability to use sound judgment in making independent decisions;
Ability to maintain effective relationships with the public and employees;
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.

Employment Standards


Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education; plus, nine years of experience performing building maintenance, repair and/or construction, including four years of experience acting in a supervisory role.

Valid driver's license.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Extensive working knowledge of operation and management programs and activities.

Mobility of employee is required for county facility inspections. Ability to climb step ladders 14 feet in height and/or extension ladders and scaffolds up to 50 feet in height. Able to lift up and carry up to 75 pounds with assistance of a dolly, lift or staff. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

Panel interview and may include practical exercise.
