Job Announcement

The Trouble Response Center (TRC) is the 24-hour communication center for the Gravity Sewers Branch in Wastewater Collection Division (WCD) and is staffed seven days a week, including holidays, weekends, and County administrative leave days. The TRC is responsible for answering phone calls and responding to emails or any other type of communication concerning sanitary sewer emergencies; monitoring the pumping stations alarm system; dispatching appropriate staff or trouble response inspectors (TRIs); as well as providing after-hours support to the Miss Utility section of WCD, Stormwater, and to the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES).

The Trouble Response Center (TRC) is looking for a team player to join the TRC team to provide excellent customer service in responding to sanitary sewer emergencies.

Specific responsibilities include answering phone calls, replying to emails, and responding to any other types of communication such as virtual, electronic, or written; researching sanitary sewer and other infrastructure in GIS; investigating and recording appropriate information to create, update, and close service requests and work orders in Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system; updating boards, contractor information, staff availability, and log books on a daily, weekly, or biweekly basis as provided by supervisors, agency staff, and field crews; monitoring pumping stations alarms on SCADA and Scout systems; dispatching appropriate trouble response inspectors to investigate complaints, mark sewer, and check alarms; maintaining knowledge of environmental regulations; completing back up and initial compliance reports; following and updating TRC’s Standards of Operating Procedures (SOPs); maintaining understanding of general agency practices and policies, County webpages and other provided resources; and effectively providing appropriate information, guidance, and response to all requests. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Night Crew/TRC Supervisor.

Position available in the Trouble Response Center on 8 or 12-hour, rotating shifts, based on need.

Note: The appointee to this position will be required to be available twenty-four hours a day/seven days a week (24/7) as emergency essential personnel staff, working in inclement weather and during emergency situations on an as needed basis.”

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education; and one year of engineering technical support work experience or one year of post-secondary vocational trade school or completion of one year of an applied science associate's degree.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical examination to the satisfaction of the employer.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate possesses the following:
  • Experience in or knowledge of wastewater management systems
  • Experience working in a field agency and/or with field staff
  • Experience locating information in grid maps
  • Experience using asset management system to create work orders and retrieve maintenance history
  • Skilled in using Geographical Information System (GIS)
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, EXCEL, Outlook, etc.)
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit for long periods of time as necessary to cover a 12 hour shift. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
