Wireless Network Engineer

Capital One is looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our Wireless Engineering team! You will join a talented group responsible for the design, implementation, and support of all wireless network infrastructure across the Capital One footprint.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in design, build, and test activities related to new WiFi deployments, network upgrades, and technology/platform evaluations
  • Create technical design documents and implementation plans
  • Work with the security organization to assess exposure, identify mitigation plans, and ensure compliance with all relevant security configuration standards
  • Travel to remote sites to perform site surveys in conjunction with new builds, network upgrades, and technology refresh efforts
  • Provide escalation and on-call support to the wireless network operations team
  • Provide input to enterprise network design standards and maintain documentation


Successful candidates will possess:
  • Deep understanding of WLAN technologies, network management, and security, including 802.11 b/g/n/ac standards and industry best practices
  • Experience implementing high-density WiFi solutions
  • Fundamental knowledge of security protocols and authentication (WPA2, EAP-TLS, 802.1x, AAA) and hands-on experience with RADIUS infrastructure (ClearPass, ISE)
  • Working knowledge of IP routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP
  • Experience deploying QoS in LAN/WLAN environments in support of multimedia and voice applications
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and site-survey tools including Wireshark, Air Magnet, Ekahau Site Survey, Chanalyzer, and Eye P.A.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, frequently changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across multiple teams
  • Experience working in an Agile environment


Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
  • At least 3 years of experience with WLAN implementation on one or more platforms (Aruba, Cisco/Meraki, Juniper/Mist, Extreme)
  • At least 2 years of experience performing 802.11 WLAN site surveys
  • At least 2 years of experience leading large-scale IT projects


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 4+ years of experience with Aruba Networks technologies
  • 4+ years of experience with AAA and identity-based access solutions for WLAN deployments
  • 2+ years of experience leading projects using Agile methodologies and tools
  • Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP) Program certification
  • WLAN Vendor certification
