Marketing Assistant, College of Visual and Performing Arts The George Mason University, College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks qualified applicants for a part-time Marketing Assistant. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:The Marketing Assistant will support CVPA's marketing efforts for the seven academic units within the college, additional organizations under the CVPA umbrella, as well as the CVPA brand as a whole. Reporting to the Academic Programs Marketing Manager, this role will:Work closely with the Academic Programs Marketing Manager to identify, write, and share long-form content and news stories about people and projects within the College;Use EMMA (email marketing software) to build CVPA newsletters and other external email communications to distribute on a regular basis;Assist with content creation for CVPA websites, and promotional materials;Regular meetings with staff for collaboration; andAdditional tasks may include proofreading and coordinating the distribution of marketing materials as well as assisting with a broad range of marketing projects within the College.Hours: Work hours are flexible, but must be available for some daytime calls; Expected to be 18-25 hours per week. Required Qualifications:Demonstrated communications skills including writing and editing at a very high level;Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office;Knowledge of the Arts; andB.A. in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related area or equivalent experience.Preferred Qualifications:1-2 years experience in a marketing and/or communications role;Adobe Creative Suite experience;Experience with email marketing tool (e.g. EMMA, Constant Contact);Content Management System experience (e.g. Drupal, Wordpress); andPrevious experience in a university or in an arts environment.
