Mason Impact Student Support SpecialistThe George Mason University Office of the Provost seeks a professional Mason Impact Student Support Specialist who has a passion for transformative education. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and cultural inclusive environment.Responsibilities:The Student Support Specialist will report to the Director of Curriculum and Initiatives, and work closely with the Assistant Director of the Office of Student Scholarship, Creative Activities, and Research (OSCAR), and other members of the Undergraduate Education team. This position will be responsible for a variety of student activities, including:Expanding, developing, and maintaining student programs and activities within Mason Impact to increase student participation. These programs include Federal Work Study Assistants, Summer Team Impact Projects, Undergraduate Research Scholars Program, Mason Impact Student Projects, and OSCAR Fellows Program;Creating and implementing student messaging for Mason Impact activities for student walk-ins, admission and orientation events, and advisors and coaches around Mason;Supporting the student hiring and payment process in programs such as Federal Work Study, URSP, and Summer Team Impact Projects;Being creative and resourceful in sharing Mason Impact opportunities for students, including through the creation of social media and web-based marketing campaigns for students and through event planning; andServing on and leading appropriate Mason Impact and University committees.Required Qualifications:The incumbent will need to be able to work in a team environment, understand the vision of Mason Impact, and be able to take independent responsibility for supporting students. The ideal candidates will have:Undergraduate degree in any discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;Experience in creating educational programing in higher education;Demonstrated written, oral, and interpersonal skills;Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem solve, and prioritize multiple tasks;Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, organization, and curiosity;Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); andExperience with creating and editing websites and social media posts.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in any discipline or equivalent; andKnowledge of Mason's undergraduate curriculum.
