Graduate Administrative SpecialistGeorge Mason University's Office of Graduate Education seeks qualified candidates for a Graduate Administrative Specialist. These groups include, but are not limited to, Graduate Council, academic units, as well as graduate programs and students. The primary objective of this position is to provide administrative support to the Graduate Division's executive and all related needs.Responsibilities:Manages calendars including making appointments and prioritizing the most sensitive matters, and organizes meetings, including scheduling and sending reminders;Writes and edits e-mails, drafts memos, and prepares communication on behalf of organizational leader(s);Helps with purchasing and small accounting matters;Organizes and coordinates events and travel plans;Works with graduate students and identifies their needs before directing them to the appropriate office or unit;Provides excellent customer service to students, faculty and academic units and answering questions in a polite and professional manner;Maintains comprehensive and accurate records;Creates and maintains contact lists for internal and external stakeholders;Handles confidential and proprietary information effectively; andMaintains and updates webpages in a timely manner.Required Qualifications:Associate's degree, plus significant clerical and/or administrative experience or an equivalent combination of completed education and related experience;Experience providing administrative support to an executive;Experience in operating applicable office equipment and software, such as MS Office and Adobe products, and other software packages required to carry out the functions of the office;Experience in a fast-paced, professional, and diverse environment;Experience in serving a variety of stakeholders;Effective communication skills to interact with graduate constituents in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner; andDemonstrated organizational and time-management skills to effectively plan, prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and be detailed-oriented.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree;Two (2) years of experience supporting an executive leader;Two (2) years of clerical and/or administrative experience in higher education or closely related field; andExperience in higher education systems and processes.
