Human Resources is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining AARP enterprise-wide human resource strategies, initiatives, policies, procedures and related systems. This includes employee compensation and benefits, organization design and integration, talent acquisition, talent development and employee relations.

This role is responsible for managing the analysis, design, and administration of compensation including base pay, incentive pay, and annual compensation management programs. The Compensation Manager consults with leaders to evaluate jobs, determine appropriate pay levels, and advise on structural changes. The Manager assists with executive compensation reports and ensures that requests for pay adjustments comply with current compensation policy and resolves daily operational questions and issues.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a resource to managers on a variety of projects and compensation-related issues, including program design, base pay administration, promotion and retention strategies, and organizational alignment.
  • Provides support for special projects, reports, and studies covering a range of compensation initiatives including executive compensation. Analyzes and interprets results and presents findings in a concise format.
  • Manages the annual merit and incentive process by testing, checking/ensuring data accuracy, adhering to deadlines, and working with management and colleagues to provide necessary guidance and information throughout the process.
  • Participates in annual compensation surveys which serve as a source for obtaining market pricing data and helps in determining changes in the labor market, economic indicators, and compensation trends.
  • Uses technology to update survey data for current benchmark and positions that have been previously priced.
  • Ensures that the company complies with changing state and federal laws and regulations

Qualifications

  • Ability to evaluate and analyze data and make substantive recommendations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop working relationships to foster cooperation and support from internal and external groups.
  • Strong Excel skills required.
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
