Job Description

The Washington Post's world-class Engineering team is on the ground floor of some of the most exciting, game-changing projects in the news media industry; projects involving innovative tools that promise to revolutionize how our award-winning journalists tell their stories. To succeed in this mission, we are searching for a Scrum Master to play a critical role in our agile process. This position can be remote.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as a leader to facilitate their team for better creativity and tries to improve the efficiency of the development team.
  • Removes impediments and roadblocks for the scrum team.
  • Facilitates and maintains scrum ceremonies including but not limited to daily stand-ups, plannings, retrospectives, team demos and backlog refinement
  • Aids in the decision-making process to ensure quick inspection and proper use of adaptation process.
  • Works with product owners to manage product backlogs and plan for future work by organizing sprints
  • Fosters communication and coach team to help improve team workflow and better the Agile methodologies


Qualifications
  • Scrum Master Certification (CSM) and/or equivalent experience using Agile methods.
  • 2 years of Agile, product or project management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts.
  • Experience with Atlassian Products (Jira, Confluence, Trello)
