MIL currently holds several multi-year contracts with NAWCAD in the areas of Cyber, C5ISR, and Information Technology systems.

The MIL Corporation is looking for an Engineering Technician II that will serve as a Telecommunications Infrastructure Technician to perform integration and installation of new, and to support retrofit of, communications systems and infrastructure. These efforts include conducting site surveys, performing cabling installations, integration of equipment into racks, and associated technician duties for both inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) installations.

Responsibilities
  • Interface with and follow direction from Project Managers and site foreperson during site surveys, installations, and maintenance visits.
  • Read and understand engineering plans, specifications, and work orders.
  • Create inputs to and/or submitting daily status reports.
  • Assist with surveys of IT infrastructure sites and provide inputs for creating rack elevations, cable run sheets, and patching lists.
  • Install surface mount raceway systems and cable trays within communications rooms and other wiring locations.
  • Label communications infrastructure including cable, panels, patch cords and electronics.
  • Install plywood, racks, cabinets, equipment, and grounding and bonding of IT equipment and pathways.
  • Apply configurations and set IP addresses on network and other equipment.
  • Install firmware programming and configure on A/V and other equipment.
  • Perform network troubleshooting and repair for cabling and/or configuration setting issues.
  • Perform inventory management and record configuration information on installed equipment.
  • Maintain clean work area and participating in job site cleanup.
  • Assist in the packing and inventory of tools and materials to be shipped to and returned from job sites.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years prior experience in commercial and Government communications industry.
  • Ability to work independently and in team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications abilities, including giving presentations and/or demonstrations.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with A/V tools such as Crestron Toolbox and configuring network equipment.
  • Experience with cable routing and management.
  • Experience using MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds at one time.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls, and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Must possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to communicate (hear, speak, and write) in English.
  • Can use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Experience with packing/unpacking equipment, including crating for overseas shipments.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Per Federal guidelines you may be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or willingness to obtain vaccination

Desired Qualifications
  • Top Secret / SCI clearance.
  • Associates degree or college courses in a technical area.

Education

High School diploma or GED.

Travel

Candidates must be willing to travel CONUS, and occasionally OCONUS, sites up to four weeks at a time. Total travel is approximately 50%.

Clearance

All applicants for this position must possess a current Secret (or higher) clearance; please note that the clearance process takes into account financial background aspects. (TS/SCI is preferred).
