Rooted in Mason's diversity is a campus culture that is both rewarding and exciting, work that is meaningful, and opportunities to both collaborate and create.About the Position:The Assistant Director of Student Well-Being Programs primarily serves residential student populations and residential student staff through well-being educational resources and programs, while also collaborating with Housing and Residence Life professional and student staff. This position encompasses responsibilities to CWB and Mason's Housing and Residence Life (HRL). The position reports to CWB's Director of Well-Being Programs.Responsibilities for Housing and Residence Life (HRL):Facilitate learning about well-being into residential curriculum initiatives and programs;Engage in dialogue with residential students and residential student staff on well-being and mental health-related issues;Disseminate well-being resources, information, and tools to residential student populations;Meet regularly with HRL professional and student staff;Work collaboratively with HRL professional staff to support well-being initiatives for HRL student staff; andSupport evaluation and assessment activities for student well-being programs.Responsibilities for the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being:Serve as Coordinator for the Well-Being Learning Community (partnership with HRL), which includes meeting regularly with the community director, planning learning community programming, connecting with course faculty, and promotion and recruitment for the learning community;Help coordinate the center's student outreach efforts, facilitate workshops, and represent and promote CWB at large-scale events;Assist with Mason Chooses Kindness and other university-wide well-being activities and initiatives; andActively participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.Required Qualifications:Master's Degree required, preferably in higher education, student affairs, health education, counseling, psychology, or related fields, or equivalent experience;Experience working in higher education and understanding of current mental health and well-being challenges for college students;Knowledge of the science of well-being and supporting practices;Skilled at building relationships with people from diverse backgrounds;Experience in planning and delivering programs and events that serve diverse student populations;Knowledge of diversity, inclusion, and equity approaches and their connections to student development and well-being;Exhibits exceptional professionalism and a strong work ethic;Reliable, responsible, and self-motivated with an ability to work independently and interdependently;Ability to work effectively in teams and to lead teams;Demonstrated advanced written and verbal communication skills;Proficiency in a range of technologies and social media platforms; andAbility to work atypical business hours.Preferred Qualifications:3 or more years of experience working in higher education;Experience working as a residential advisor, residence hall director, or another position within a university housing and residence life unit;Experience living in university student housing; andExperience working on a diverse college campus.
