This paid internship has an anticipated start date of May/June 2022 and will go through the end of the year.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the execution and completion of audits from the planning phase to the report issuance
  • Apply innovative approaches when supporting and executing audit work during all stages of an audit, including conclusions and recommendations
  • Learn how to document assumptions, methodology, validation, and testing based on audit work performed
  • Have the potential to volunteer and assist the local Institute of Internal Auditors Washington, DC chapter
  • Develop and leverage business/analytical knowledge to participate in discussions with cross-functional teams to understand the business objectives and influence solution strategies
  • Experiment with organizational data and propose ideas for Internal Audit and business users to leverage existing data in new, innovative ways

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
  • Preferred majors: Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Auditing, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or Business
  • Ready to commit to the internship for a minimum of six months with the possibility for an extension depending on performance and graduation date
  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable with the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Tableau a plus
  • Exceptional verbal/written communications skills required
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise


Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
