The Opinions section seeks an experienced editor to join our op-ed team, focusing on coverage of the economy, business, technology and the evolving workplace, helping to supervise our team of columnists who write on these topics.

The ideal candidate will bring a passion for and deep knowledge of these issues and for opinion journalism. This position will entail helping to craft and oversee our business and economics coverage, working with in-house columnists and bloggers along with outside writers to deliver a compelling suite of opinions coverage. The candidate should have a highly entrepreneurial attitude toward opinion journalism, including creative thinking about the best formats in which to present arguments to readers, including ways in which to harness data to make or buttress opinion arguments. The candidate should also have a deep bench of contacts across the business landscape-including finance, industry, and the tech entrepreneurship ecosystem-as well as in relevant areas of government and academia.

The candidate must have enthusiasm for seeking out and understanding perspectives across the ideological spectrum, along with exceptional editing skills, including the desire and proven ability to work with both highly polished writers and those who need significant help turning their ideas into effective essays and arguments understandable the lay reader. The position, which contemplates three days per week in the newsroom, is not eligible for remote work and requires some on-call weekends on a rotating basis.
