AARP's Community, State and National Affairs Group includes Government Relations, Programs, Volunteer Engagement, Community Outreach and Advocacy at the federal, state and local levels. The Program Manager assists in developing, executing, and implementing new engagement opportunities that align with the organization's goals and objectives. The Manager investigates, resolves complaints, and listens to grievances on behalf of staff, volunteers and members. This psoition works to achieve AARP's community engagement goals at the national, state and local levels.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, coordinate, and manage stakeholders and resources for digital and technical projects for program(s) coordinating across matrix teams and dependencies to meet delivery deadlines and budget.
  • Interpret and understand business needs and objectives, and how they map to Enterprise priorities and the AARP Dashboard. Effectively lead groups of subject matter experts in discussions and problem-solving activities to advance delivery of scalable and efficient digital and large-scale technical solutions including content management systems, identity and security and mobile.
  • Create and maintain formal project plans, reports with results for defined goals, objectives, risks and change in scope and accompanying change management or training documentation. Plan and carry out quality tests, manage deliverables, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems.
  • Identify key decisions and risks and facilitate their solutions that satisfy the business needs and align with our strategy, platforms, and best practices.
  • Articulate and execute on strategies that support business deliverables.
  • Creation of articles, videos, blog posts, social media posts, product training, presentations, etc. that inform, educate, and/or entertain audiences
  • Designs and executes outreach strategies that position and promote experts, content, and products internally and externally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience implementing and managing projects in digital learning, virtual event management and production.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment.
  • May require event support outside of normal business hours.
  • Moderate Noise (Examples: Business Office with Computer Printers, Light Traffic, etc.)
  • Attendance in a broadcast studio for events.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
