Vital Signs, LLC is looking for a TypeWell Transcriber that is a quick typist that can transcribe meaning-for-meaning what is spoken during an assignment using the TypeWell software. The consumer receiving the service will view the transcription, in real-time, from the reader device, and will also be able to type in questions or comments that the provider can voice.

Note: This is NOT an office job, this is an on-site position located in/around the Baltimore, Washington DC, and Prince George's County Area. As a qualified Typewell transcriber, you will provide services in classrooms at highschools, colleges, and universities located throughout the DMV. Your customers will typically include the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, people with Aspergers, Autism, and other disabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Quick typists with strong listening skills and grammar skills
  • Capture spoken content, word for word, into a written form, using the TypeWell software
  • Create a high level, easy to read transcript
  • Accurately complete assigned tasks/duties, projects, and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelines
  • Work effectively in a team environment; receive support from and provide support to colleagues
  • Maintain professionalism through appearance, attitude, and posture
  • Possess the ability to quickly learn and implement new and changing technologies
  • Identify and upload specific vocabulary that will be used in the classrooms
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma, equivalent GED required, college degree preferred
  • Passing the TypeWell basic skills course with a qualified passing score
  • Must have a minimum of 60 wpm with little to no errors
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Require little to no supervision
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer or networking problems with or without support

Important Information:

  • TypeWell training takes 8-12 weeks to complete
  • Training can be completed in the comfort of your own home
  • The test is comprised of three parts:
    • Grammer
    • Typing Speed
    • Listening
  • The training course will teach you how to transcribe using the TypeWell software (http://www.typewell.com/course. html)

Many individuals apply but there are only a limited few who are able to meet the requirements of typing 60-65wpm.
