Overview

AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services, Inc. (ASI) manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

This is an exciting time to join ASI and the Marketing group. Central to our enterprise strategy is growing a healthy AARP membership - both by getting more existing AARP members engaged in their membership benefits and by joining more new members. This position of Director, Provider Membership Development is newly formed and fully dedicated to enabling this enterprise strategy. At inception, the position will have one direct report (Manager, Provider Membership Operations) and join 6 other group leads that report directly to the SVP Marketing at ASI. Within ASI, this position will be centrally responsible for the growth of AARP member joiners and renewers via ASI and its Provider network.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as ASI's day-to-day liaison to AARP Membership, supporting AARP to develop strategy, identify priorities and drive growth.
  • Collaborate with AARP to identify ASI's annual statement of work on Membership development - including goals, scope of effort and milestone deliverables.
  • Partner with ASI's lines of business to facilitate Provider membership join and renew activities, including all related contractual, marketing, operational, customer experience and financial impacts.
  • Interface with Providers as ASI's ambassador for AARP Membership, representing AARP's membership state and plans, along with innovating membership intersections between AARP and Providers.
  • Directly oversee all Membership development activities from ASI and Providers, ensuring each is efficiently organized and meeting or exceeding its performance expectations.
  • Supervise Manager to ensure high performance and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of professional working experience required.
  • Deep experience in direct product marketing is desired, especially within subscription or membership organizations.
  • Experience working within business-to-business models and highly matrixed organizations is preferred.
  • Strong client service and relationship management skills needed.
  • Polished presenter capable of being the face of AARP Membership to Provider organizations.
  • Consensus builder-proven ability to work in a matrix organization and gain internal respect with superiors, peers and subordinates; is a team player.
  • Ability to understand and influence diverse set of product marketing strategies across a variety of channels (direct mail, DRTV, agent, digital, and PR/Outreach).

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
