The Transit Employees’ Health & Welfare Plan provides healthcare and related benefits to active and retired members of ATU Local 689 employed by the Washington metropolitan Area Transit authority as well as their eligible family members. The Health & Welfare plan offers a comprehensive package of benefits that includes medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, life and accident, and long-term and short-term disability insurance.

The Plan is administered by a Board of Trustees according to the terms of a collective bargaining agreement, the governing trust agreement and applicable law. The Executive Director has operational responsibility for the Plan.
