The Top Workplaces USA awards recognize employers that are creating work environments where employees want to go, stay, and thrive. The basis of the achievement is an employee survey because who better to judge an organization’s health than the employees?

“The companies recognized as Top Workplaces have high performance, people-first cultures,” said Greg Barnett, Ph.D., Chief People Scientist at Energage. “These companies are successful because they put their people at the center of all they do. By prioritizing the employee experience, they are known to out-produce, out-innovate, and out-deliver the competition.”

Energage identifies high-performing employers in sixty-one markets nationwide, and for two years, it has offered national recognition through an annual Top Workplaces USA list as well as quarterly national awards for outstanding workplace culture.

By completing one engagement survey, companies can qualify to participate in awards year-round.

For 16 years, Energage, has surveyed more than twenty-seven million employees, which provides robust benchmarking data by industry.

The Top Workplaces national awards – including USA, Industry, and Culture Excellence awards – are open to all companies with more than 150 U.S. employees. To qualify for recognition, companies must achieve a Workplace Survey response rate of 35% or higher.

Top Workplaces national awards are open to all industries except those that are primarily regional, such as local real estate agents/brokers, local hotels, and K-12 educational institutions.

Over the past year, Energage has invited more than 40,000 organizations to compete for national awards. The next Top Workplaces USA list will be released in February 2023; to be eligible, companies must survey no later than November.

Another round of Culture Excellence Awards is coming up. Companies must survey by September to qualify for honors in diversity, equity & inclusion; employee well-being; appreciation; professional development; and women-led organizations.

All achievements are based solely on employee feedback. There are no subjective elements to the process, making Top Workplaces the most credible, authentic employer recognition program.

Companies are recognized in four size categories, to fairly compare with their peers. The company size bands for Top Workplaces national awards are based on total U.S. employees as follows:

  • 150-499 employees
  • 500-999 employees
  • 1,000-2,499 employees
  • 2,500+ employees

“We are confident these quarterly awards will not only recognize well-deserving organizations, but also continue to amplify the incredible work these stellar recipients are doing so they can drive more effective recruitment and retention efforts,” said Lisa Sordilla, vice president of human resources for Energage.
