Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy governs and sets forth the information we collect, use and share on Washington Post Jobs, a service of The Washington Post (“The Post”).  Your use of Washington Post Jobs is also governed by the  Privacy Policy of washingtonpost.com, which is incorporated by reference, and includes additional information about the information we may collect and use about you.

If you leave the washingtonpost.com service and go to a third party's site, the privacy policy of the third party will govern your activities.

Your Profile

As part of your membership on the Washington Post Jobs site, you can fill out a short profile. You can classify your profile in two ways, depending on your privacy preference.

First, you can choose to hide your profile, including your resume, from all employers or from certain recruiters that you specify. If you have a profile that is hidden, your resume will not be searchable or viewable by employers and recruiters as described on the Your Profile page.

Alternatively, you can choose not to hide your profile so that your profile will be seen as submitted by you. If you have a profile that is not hidden, your resume will be viewable and searchable by employers and recruiters who pay for access to our resume databases products, and your profile, including the contact information within the profile, will be visible to employers and recruiters as described on the Your Profile page.

You have the ability to change the classification of your profile at any time by logging into your account, selecting Your Profile, and making your desired changes.

Please note that we try to grant access to this database only to paying employers, recruiters, hiring managers, headhunters, and human resource professionals, but cannot guarantee that other parties will not, without our consent, gain access to this database, or that paying employers will not forward your resume to another party. You may hide or remove your resume from our searchable database at any time. However, employers and recruiters who have paid for access to the database, and other parties who have otherwise gained access to the database, may have retained a copy of your resume in their own files or databases. We are not responsible for the retention, use, or privacy of resumes in these instances, or for the use (or privacy) of resumes by any of such parties while resumes are in the database.

Applying For Jobs

In some cases you can choose to apply for a job through our site. In those instances, we ask you for information such as your name, e-mail address, resume, and cover letter, and, at your direction, we share that information with the employer and/or recruiter that posted the job. We delete application data from our site on a rolling basis as part of our standard deletion processes.. However, as with your profile, the applicable employer and/or recruiter may have retained a copy of your materials, and we are not responsible for their use of those materials once you submit an application.

Updating Account Information

We allow you to change, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. To do so, simply log into your account, either click on your name or go to the Your Profile section, and you will find options for editing the information you have submitted.  For additional information about your choices regarding your information, please see “How to Access or Update Your Information & Other Privacy Choices Available To You” and “California Privacy Rights” in the washingtonpost.com Privacy Policy
