Senior Assistant Director of Events

The Office of Admissions is searching for an individual with a passion for events and a dedication for creating a high-quality guest experience to fill the position of Senior Assistant Director of Events. Responsibilities:
The Senior Assistant Director of Events in the Office of Admissions is responsible for the planning and implementation of all freshmen, transfer, and graduate recruitment events. The position also plans and implements three college fairs. The Senior Assistant Director serves as the voice of the Admissions office for all event planning on the Recruitment Action Council (RAC) and the Admissions Stakeholders group to ensure all academic units and campus departments are represented at admissions' events. This person also strategically works with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions to anticipate the need for future events to meet the enrollment goals of the University. The Senior Assistant Director manages two Event Coordinators and works across the Office of Admissions and the University to ensure each event is planned in accordance with university and office-wide budgets and goals. The Senior Assistant Director will also serve as the Director of Logistics for the Washington Scholars Programs in June and July. He/she will hire and manage a team to oversee the logistics of the three residential programs designed for high school students.

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/training and experience; * Demonstrated event planning experience; * Significant experience managing a team of professionals; * Must be extremely detail-oriented and organized; * Demonstrated ability to handle several projects at once, adhering to tight deadlines; * Team oriented, but able to work independently in a fast-paced environment; * Strong listening and comprehension skills; * Strong communication skills with the ability to write clearly, and speak effectively in front of a large group; * Excellent interpersonal skills; * Ability to make independent decisions on event planning and coordination in line with office goals, objectives, and budgets; * Exhibit a genuine, professional, and positive impression of the university; * Confident driving in and around Washington, DC; * A driver's license and the ability to meet eligibility requirements for operating state-owned vehicles; * Experience working with high school or college aged groups; * Demonstrated customer service experience; * Comfortable working with diverse populations; * Computer skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Publisher and Word; * Must be willing to frequently work nights and weekends; * Must be available and willing to work a full day on the day before and day of each major event, which includes some weekends; week-of preparations include several evening work hours and physical labor; * Must be able to reside on campus for three weeks during the summer to manage logistics for Washington Scholars Program; and * Physical labor-ability to safely and independently move up to 50 pounds and ability to stand for long periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Salesforce experience; and * Experience planning events at a college or university.
