POSITION SUMMARY

Fragrance Creators Association seeks a Director, Regulatory Affairs & Science Policy, to join its modern-thinking, forward-leaning team of professionals.  This role serves as technical lead for the organization’s priority issues and support.  Through collaboration with the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) and the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM), the role advances assurance of the fragrance industry’s rigorous safety program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze legislative, regulatory, and other developments for technical relevancy and impact on the fragrance industry
• Establish relationships with EPA, FDA, and other key regulatory agencies with jurisdiction over fragrance ingredients
• Serve as staff liaison to relevant committees and task forces of the association, such as the Regulatory Science Executive Committee
• Provide direct regulatory support and assistance to association members via telephone and written communications
• Maintain a strong information flow to IFRA and RIFM regarding regulatory and science policy developments in the US and Canada
• Liaise with scientific and technical staff at allied associations and industry groups
• Follow general developments and literature on fragrance materials and fragrance mixtures
• Construct functional budget and manage outside consultants, as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Bio-Chemistry, or appropriate field—PhD preferred
• Minimum 5-8 years of experience in health and safety policy or related issue area—experience as regulatory lead preferred
• Knowledge of US regulatory system, background with chemical management policy preferred
• General knowledge of the role of fragrance in consumer products—experience in flavor, fragrance, or broader chemical industry preferred
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
