Bystander Intervention Training Staff Facilitator - Health Education Services

Georgetown University's Health Education Services (HES) is currently accepting applications for staff to fill the position of Bystander Intervention Training staff facilitator. Health Education Services provides crisis intervention and prevention programming on sexual assault and interpersonal violence at Georgetown University. The incumbents will work with professionals in HES, other Georgetown University staff, and students to co-facilitate the Bringing in the Bystander trainings, a comprehensive 5-hour training program on sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, consent and bystander intervention provided to first year and incoming Georgetown undergraduate students. Incumbents will also have the option of co-facilitating the 3-hour Hoyus Leadership Bystander Training for student leaders throughout the year. They will be supervised by the Interpersonal Violence Training and Education Specialist, and will work closely with other staff in Health Education Services.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Co-facilitate the 5-hour Bringing in the Bystander training for first year and transfer students during September, October and November 2018
  • Co-facilitate the 3-hour Hoyus Leadership Bystander Training for student leaders throughout the academic year
  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity with all information at all times
  • Be knowledgeable about resources related to interpersonal violence, both on and off campus and be comfortable making referrals
  • Assist with administrative work as it relates to training implementation
  • Assist with additional duties and related tasks as assigned, including other projects in Health Education Services
  • Maintain regular communication with the Interpersonal Violence Training and Education Specialist and other Health Education Services staff
  • Provide support to student facilitator throughout training
  • Maintain documentation of student participation


Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for interpersonal violence prevention and education. They will be dependable, able to take initiative, and have the ability to work and communicate well with groups. Strong presentation skills, as well as high levels of creativity and innovation are essential. Experience in facilitation and previous experience working with this topic on campus is preferred. Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality and sensitivity to various issues is a must.
  • Documentation and attention to detail.
  • Experience with diverse socio-economic, racial/ethnic, international, and LGBTQ populations, including knowledge and understanding of intersectional approaches to prevention efforts is desired.
  • Candidates who have an interest in facilitating both the Bringing in the Bystander trainings and the Hoyus Leadership Bystander Trainings are strongly encouraged to apply.


Time Commitment
  • Must attend train-the-trainer sessions prior to facilitation (to be held in August)
  • Must participate in ongoing education for facilitators throughout the academic year
  • Must commit to co-facilitating at least four Bringing in the Bystander trainings throughout the fall semester
  • Must facilitate the entire five-hour training during shift, including coming early for set-up and staying later through break-down.
  • There is flexibility for facilitators in choosing which sessions to work, but on average, each facilitator will facilitate at least two sessions per month.
