  • To broaden their legal experience, Honors program participants attorneys may have the opportunity to rotate into different organizational components within OSC. The placement of persons selected for the Honors Program will be determined based upon the workload and resource needs of the agency's components. The placement preference of selectees will be considered when possible. Selectees will be matched with a senior attorney within OSC Headquarters through the Mentorship Program.

    The following duties are performed in the execution of duties for this position:
    • Review and analyze whistleblower disclosures of information submitted by federal employees, former federal employees, or applicants for federal employment, involving a violation of law, rule, or regulation, gross mismanagement, a gross waste of funds, and abuse of authority, or a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety.
    • Review, investigate, litigate and otherwise resolve complaints of prohibited personnel practices, including whistleblower retaliation and other prohibited activity.
    • Review, investigate, litigate and otherwise resolve Hatch Act complaints and provide advisory opinions regarding political activities by federal employees.
    • Review, investigate, litigate and otherwise resolve USERRA complaints alleging discrimination or failure to reemploy returning service members.
    Applicants qualify for this position by placement in one of the following categories:
    • Third year law students or graduate law students who will complete their studies in the Spring/Summer, 2019;
    • Recent graduates (within last 2 years) of recognized accredited law schools; OR
    • Federal or state judicial law clerks with no more than two years of clerkship experience prior to the start date for the program.

    OTHER INFORMATION:
    Current Presidential Management Fellows and participants in another Federal Agency Honors Program, or law school graduates currently practicing law other than as a judicial clerk are NOT eligible to participate.
