  • GS-15 - Candidates must have had one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-14. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position as described above, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.

    Examples of specialized experience for this grade level include: directing, managing and supervising the work of Project Managers and project teams; kinetic (hands-on) experience regarding the integration, scope, human resources and procurement activities of information system projects; providing project management and leadership for the development and enhancement of IT applications and systems; managing the development of IT systems from concept to implementation; developing acquisition strategies and managing the cost, performance/quality and risks for IT projects; supervising, training and/or mentoring subordinate staff and contractors.

    Merit promotion applicants must meet time in grade requirements as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-14 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirement for the GS-15 level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
