  • For the GS 7:
    • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal government (or equivalent). Experience must have included basic knowledge in the laws, regulations and policies governing any retirement and health benefits programs; familiarity with the requirements, procedures, and limitations that apply to claims and tax levies; reviewing basic documents such as claims for benefits, loan applications, or contracts; and preparing written responses to inquiries; OR
    • One year of full-time graduate level education in an accredited college or university; OR
    • A bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement (described below); OR
    • A combination of experience and education as described above, which when combined are equivalent to 100% of the qualifications requirement.
    Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) Applicants must have completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree- in a related field from an accredited college or university AND meet at least one of the qualification requirements as described below: A grade-point average (GPA) of B (3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale) for all completed undergraduate courses, or courses completed in the last two years of undergraduate curriculum; OR, A grade-point average (GPA) of B+ (3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale) for the required courses in your major field of study, or required courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study; OR, Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university, or major subdivision at the time of application; OR, Elections to membership in a national scholastic honor society, other than freshman honor societies. Honor societies that have been approved are listed in the Association of College Honor Societies. Please submit a college transcript(s) showing that you maintained a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 for all 4 years of undergraduate courses, or, on all undergraduate courses completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum, including all transferred courses. NOTE: GPAs are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9. If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) was taken on a pass/fail or similar basis, your claim must be based on class standing or membership in an honor society.

    Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-5 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS7 level.

    You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    The full performance level of this position is GS-9.
