The Incumbent must be able and willing to travel on construction job sites (approximately 65% of the time) and be able to effectively communicate (both orally and in writing).

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) applying a comprehensive range of engineering and architectural concepts, principles, and practices related to the design and construction of equipment, site work, facilities, and utilities; 2) monitoring construction projects to successful completion while controlling time and cost growth; 3) reviewing complex and diverse technical engineering specifications, drawings, and statements of work for contractibility and accuracy; 4) applying knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures, law, and regulations as they relate to engineering performance requirements; and 5) solving construction-related technical problems that deviate from standard or conventional practices due to such local conditions as climate, geography,environmental or due to specialized requirements of a facility or structure.

40 hour work week is typical for this position.

This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Facilities Engineering Level II. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

Physical Demands: The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above average agility and dexterity. Regularly conducts quality assurance reviews of construction. Much of the time is spent walking, crouching, standing, and climbing high ladders to conduct quality assurance reviews.

Work Environment: Work generally involves minimal risks and observance of safety precautions typical of an office setting. However, field inspections are made which may require protective clothing. Protective clothing worn in field inspections includes hard hats, reflective vest, hard-toed boots, safety glasses, and ear protection. Other protective wear such as safety harnesses, coveralls, and gloves may be required for certain situations.
