    For entry at the GS-11 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-09 or higher grade in the Federal Service.


    For entry at the GS-12 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in the Federal Service.


    For entry at the GS-13 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in the Federal Service.

    Basic Requirements:

    Applicants must demonstrate on their resume that they have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

    Meet the education detailed in the qualification standards (education substitution is applicable for entry at the GS-11 level only).

    Specialized Experience:

    For the GS-11, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-09 if outside the Federal service.

    Specialized experience is defined as experience applying Information Assurance/security policy, techniques, and technologies required to develop and enhance an Information Assurance program.

    For the GS-12, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-11 if outside the Federal service.

    Specialized experience is defined as experience performing policy development and interpretation, resolve critical technical IT issues and apply new technological developments in the area of information systems security and related IT disciplines.

    For the GS-13, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-12 if outside the Federal service.

    Specialized experience is defined as experience analyzing IT vulnerabilities to exploit and develop new standards and methodologies to identify and report their presence and to adapt methods to evolving technology vulnerabilities to meet security requirements.


    In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing competencies are required.

    Competencies:

    Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

    For entry at the GS-11 level: One (1) year of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement when education is directly related to the position being filled. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Official transcripts will be requested at a later date. You must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html) .

    For entry at the GS-12 and GS-13 level: Education is not substitutable for experience at this grade level.

    • A two year probationary or trial period may be required.
    • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination.

Level II certification is required prior to being authorized unsupervised privileged access.
