Implementation Coordinator (SBIRT)

The School of Nursing within the College of Health and Human Services seeks an energetic professional to serve as an Implementation Coordinator for the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) grant. The Implementation Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating program design and implementation at all partner sites and will report to the Project Director. This grant funded position will work 32 hours/week (.80 FTE). The Implementation Coordinator will work closely with the training coordinator, project manager, grant evaluators, and practice manager to form a 4-person VA-SBIRT team that will work with each individual practice site. The Implementation Coordinator will also work closely with each site to identify the appropriate placement of SBIRT procedures in the workflow of the sites. They will be responsible for developing continuous quality improvement initiatives at each site, assisting with evaluation efforts, and working with the practice manager to navigate barriers to implementation. They will also determine hiring needs of each site, will collaborate on developing job descriptions, and will be part of the interviewing panel.

These duties will require that the SBIRT Implementation Coordinator be able to:

  • Define SBIRT concepts and practice.
  • Provide training in process implementation, data collection, and reporting practices.
  • Prepare blueprint for the site that will include individual and group meetings, front desk staff training & coaching, clinical & data training, implementation evaluation, follow-up meetings, and establishing a CQI call schedule.
  • Maintain relationships with a wide variety of experts on SBIRT implementation at each site.
  • Provide consultation and technical assistance to site administrators, nurses, health care providers, and others regarding SBIRT, including federal and state laws, statutes, regulations, scope and standards of practice.


Required Qualifications:
  • A masters degree in nursing, social work, psychology, or another practice related discipline is required
  • Experience in or knowledge of the continuum of substance use, impact on health, substance use disorder treatment
  • In-depth experience with and knowledge of:
  • SBIRT concepts and practice,
  • Data collection and reporting practices Preferred Qualifications:
  • Work experience with a variety of healthcare systems.
  • Excellent time and management skills
